You can use your Unplugged to store safely your bitcoins offline, and to you make everyday secure payments online. You can use it with Mycelium or GreenBits, popular and trusted wallets, or with Copay, for multi-users and multi-signatures transactions. As Ledger Unplugged is a Fidesmo device, it is Open Source, you can download and edit the app code.
Ledger Unplugged is an usual credit-card format device. NFC enabled, it is easy to pay on any compatible device.
The Ledger Unplugged has a shared, editable and upgradeable Open Source app code. Everyone can contribute.
BACKUP & RESTORATION
In case of loss, you can restore it on any Ledger Wallet (Nano or another one) or all other compatible solutions (BIP 39).

Your bitcoins are secured by a microchip locked by a PIN code. Transactions are verified by an anti-malware second factor.

Ledger Unplugged is based on the industry standard EAL4+ Java Card, a high-level security used for banks processes, passports, health care systems and governments data.
Your transactions are not parsed and signed on your mobile: Bitcoin main sensitive actions are done inside the Secure Element, a tamper resistant environment integrated in the card.
Ledger Unplugged will ask you to authentify each payment with your second factor security card, you're safe to spend your bitcoins even on a compromised smartphone.
Your Bitcoin private keys are never held or known by Ledger or a third part: they are hard locked in your smartcard device. With Ledger Unplugged, your wallet remains decentralized, you are your own bank.
This wallet runs on NFC compatible devices. Be sure your smartphone supports contactless technology (Android phones).
Ledger Unplugged is a Hierarchical Deterministic wallet: each time you request a payment, you will get a new address.
Your backup can be restored on any Ledger Wallet, or on some other HD wallet (BIP 39 and BIP 44 compliant formats).
